Iranian-born photographer, Ramin Samandari, arrived in Odessa, Texas in 1978 at age 17, sent there by his parents in the midst of the Iranian revolution. At the time, he thought he might return to his homeland, but then the Iran-Iraq War broke out, so he stayed and became a U.S. citizen. Samandari’s recent portraiture has garnered attention by highlighting San Antonio’s racially and ethnically diverse community. Samandari exhibited 300 images from Huddled Masses, Who We Are at Luminaria 2018.
