Luminaria’s 2019 Contemporary Arts Festival dazzled the city of San Antonio with experimental new works from regional, national, and international artists. Partnerships with the National Association of Latino Arts & Cultures, the Artist Foundation of San Antonio, and the Mexican Consulate contributed to the roster of featured artists. Over 25,000 festival attendees experienced a night of immersive artistic achievements that explored everything from ancestry and identity to physicality and social justice. On Sunday, the Community Arts Day offered attendees a chance to interact with featured artists through workshops, brunches, and an artist market. The festivities ended with a multicultural, multidisciplinary closing performance at the historic Mission San José in partnership with the National Park Service.
